Restricted Dog Breeds
Under the Dog Act 1976 the following dogs are classified as Restricted Dog Breeds:
•Pit Bull Terrier breeds or American Pitt Bull Terriers, Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian fighting dog), Japanese Tose, DogoArgentina (Argentinan fighting dog) and Perro depresa Canario.
•All restricted breeds must be microchipped, sterilised and cannot be bought, sold or transferred except in thecircumstances mentioned in subsection 33GC(4)(a) or (b) of the Dog Act 1976. Proof of sterilisation andmicrochipping is required with the Application for Certificate of Animal Registration.
Concessional Rates on Registration Fees
A concessional rate for a sterilised animal or a partial refund when you sterilise an animal currently registered asunsterilised, is obtainable upon production of:
•A registered Veterinary Surgeon's Sterilisation Certificate,
•Microchipping Certificate or Statutory Declaration signed by the animal owner.
A pension concession can only be obtained upon production of a current eligible Pensioner Concession card, as defined in the Rates and Charges (Rebates and Deferments) Act 1992, in the name of the owner of the animal to be registered. The concession applicable will be 50% of the Standard Fees Payable.
Methods of Payment
Payment for your animal’s registration can be made:
•In person: 7 Orchard Avenue, Armadale (cash, cheque, money order, credit card or EFTPOS)
•Mail: City of Armadale, Locked Bag 2, ARMADALE WA 6992. If paying by post, your receipt and registration tag will be forwarded to you. Applications are no longer accepted by email.
•Credit Card payment: Only MasterCard or Visa will be accepted. The City will only be able to process Credit Card payment details received by post or in person.
•Phone: 9394 5000 for additional information. Please note payments cannot be made over the phone.
